Privacy Policy

We use Google Analytics for statistical purposes only. We use the service to monitor page views per post, visitor numbers to the site as a whole and for a break down of landing pages. 

Our tracking code has been modified so that your IP address and demographic information will not be collected and no user will be identifiable. 

Google Analytics will only retain information for 14 months. 

We do not download or store any data from Google Analytics.

Display Advertising

We are pleased to be working with Infolinks and Google Adsense for our display advertising.

Infolinks are non-personalised adverts to visitors from the EEA.

They are compliant with GDPR.

Please see their privacy policy here to see the information they collect and how to opt out. 

To turn off Infolinks adverts, click on the question mark. The click will direct  you to the “Learn more about Infolinks” page; inside this page you can choose to opt out and disable Infolinks ads from your browser.

We are currently displaying non-contextual adverts from Google Adsense. Everyone visiting from the EEA will see the exact same adverts, this is compliant with GDPR.

Amazon Affiliates

If you choose to click on the suggested product links displayed at the bottom of the site Amazon may collect data about you, use cookies and monitor your interaction. You can find more details of their privacy policy here.

 

Data Corrections

Individuals in the EU and California have the right for inaccurate data to be corrected.

Individuals in the EU and California have the right for your data to be removed from this blog and all associated social media pages, this includes blog comments.

I will also happily review and amend data as necessary for those who fall outside of the scope of GDPR in order to keep information factual and accurate.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

 

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
