Pauline Robbin Burgett was found dead in her bedroom in her family’s duplex on 12th March 1978.
She had been beaten with a blunt object and stabbed, and might have been sexually assaulted.
Pauline Robbin Burgett’s murder remains unsolved.
Discovery of the Body
Pauline was left home alone for the weekend whilst her mother and brother Chad went out of town for the weekend.
She was due to stay at a friend’s house, but she left her friend’s house, telling them that she was going to meet a boyfriend.
It is unknown who she met or if she met anybody, but she did not return to her friend’s house that night.
She was found dead in her bedroom by her brother Chad on the 12th March 1978.
Investigation
There was no sign of forced entry at the property, so whoever was at the property with her was invited into the property.
There was also nothing missing from the scene, and a robbery was ruled out.
Due to the crime scene, it was clear to the police that her killing was committed while the perpetrator was in a rage at the victim.
It is for this reason that they believe the suspect was one of her boyfriends.
She had many boyfriends and had recently dropped out of high school.
She also had many ex-boyfriends, and it was said that she ended most of the relationships.
Pauline had also been the subject of threats from people at an apartment block where she used to babysit.
It was said to be an older man who had made a number of advances on her.
Evidence
The police have taken DNA from the crime scene.
The DNA is from two unknown individuals.
They have yet to get a match on the DNA that they have.
There is evidence to suggest she may have been sexually assaulted.
But as investigators don’t know what happened the evening of her death, she may have had consensual sex with one or more of those for whom they have DNA evidence.
